As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has been arrested for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife, Meggan Lambesis.The 32-year-old has been charged with Solicitation of Another to Commit Murder.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Lambesis was arrested “without incident” on Tuesday, May 7 in California. It is alleged that he asked an undercover detective to kill his wife. This news is especially shocking because As I Lay Dying are reputed to be a Christian metal band.
San Diego County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell stated -
“The information came to us late last week,we acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy.”
Tim and Meggan Lambesis have 3 Ethiopian children that they adopted last year, prior to Meggan filing for the dissolution of the marriage in September.
As I Lay Dying had just returned from a tour that included stops in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea and wrapped up in Shanghai, China. “I’ll be home in about 15 hours,” Lambesis wrote in an Instagram post. The band had been due to begin a tour with Killswitch Engage, along with Miss May I and Affiance, at the end of May.
Lambesis is expected to appear in court on Wednesday or Thursday.
As I Lay Dying have made no official statement as yet.
